About Me

劉倢妤 (Liu Chieh-Yu), Sylvia Liu—these names represent me as an individual and embody the identity and complex issues I address through my work.

At the intersection of textile art, culinary spaces, and cultural identity, my research and curatorial practice unfolds. This portfolio is a tapestry of my vision and aesthetic, intricately woven in response to pressing social and environmental issues.

As a curator with a background in fashion design, I bring a unique perspective to the world of textile art. My practice seamlessly blends my design expertise with curatorial vision, focusing on the intersection of textile, culinary spaces, and cultural identity. This interdisciplinary approach allows me to create thought-provoking exhibitions and artworks that address pressing social and environmental issues.

Drawing from my Taiwanese heritage, I explore cultural identity through innovative textile pieces, often incorporating the concept of the dinner table as a space for dialogue. My work aims to push the boundaries of textile art, contributing to conversations about decolonisation and contemporary cultural consciousness. Through this fusion of design, curation, and social commentary, I strive to create aesthetically compelling and socially relevant experiences that engage viewers in meaningful dialogue about our complex, interconnected world.
